Nonprofit 101: Finding Talents Within Your Organization
Everyone has something that they can do! Maybe you are good in organizing things? Or perhaps you enjoy writing. Others are good at keeping records and calculating finances. Some are good in interpersonal relations and can speak professionally with others. No matter what your skill is, more than likely you can use those skills to help a nonprofit organization!
As a nonprofit leader, you can usually find volunteers within your membership. Everyone has a talent. It is just a matter of finding those talents and putting them to good use! So, before you go outside of your nonprofit look within your membership.
However, remember my Top 10 Lessons and lesson # 2 “Just because someone wants to volunteer doesn’t mean they are the best person for the job.”
Talk with the volunteer before you accept them into a position and find out what kind of time they are willing to devote, what kind of skills they have to offer, and what they can bring to your organization.
